Final Destination 5

Final Destination 5 delivers exactly what the franchise's fanbase wants and then closes the whole series out with one of horror's genuinely great twist endings. The kill-transfer mechanic William Bludworth introduces gives this entry a moral wrinkle the earlier films didn't have, forcing the survivors to actually consider murder as a solution rather than just running from death's design. Steven Quale directs with real craft, particularly the gymnastics sequence and the acupuncture death, both ranking among the series' most inventively staged set pieces. The final twist, revealing this entire film has been a prequel to the original all along, recontextualizes the whole franchise and lands as one of the most satisfying reveals horror has produced in years. A genuinely worthy send-off that elevates the formula rather than just repeating it.
