Why it’s HorroRated

Evil Dead Burn commits fully to the franchise's brand of relentless, gory chaos and delivers on the sixth entry's promise of the series' most savage installment yet. Sebastien Vanicek, coming off his acclaimed debut Infested, brings a visceral, sensory approach that treats the possession outbreak as pure physical assault rather than restrained dread, and the family-dinner-turned-massacre structure gives the film a claustrophobic intensity the earlier sequels didn't always achieve. The practical effects and gore commitment honor Sam Raimi's original spirit even as the film pushes further into extremity, occasionally verging on genuinely upsetting territory that some viewers will find punishing rather than fun. It doesn't reach the emotional highs of Evil Dead Rise but as a pure gore delivery mechanism it's confidently made and consistently effective. A strong, brutal continuation of a franchise that keeps finding new angles on the same basic nightmare.

Synopsis

After losing her husband Will in a car accident caused by an encounter with something already infected, Alice seeks comfort with his family, only for his father Edgar to begin transforming into a deadite during a tense dinner. The infection spreads rapidly through the household as the family searches for the Kandarian dagger, the only weapon capable of stopping the possession before it consumes them all. Sebastien Vanicek directs the sixth Evil Dead film with Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert producing, delivering what the marketing promised as the franchise's most savage and terrifying chapter yet.
